We will be temporarily suspending the Rec Season effective immediately. There will be no practice or games played as of March 13. We will continue to evaluate the situation and keep you updated on if and when we will resume playing.
Stay well and we hope to see you all back on the field sooner rather than later.
North Shore Executive Board
USA Softball of Southern California understands that league representatives have many questions on how the coronavirus (COVID-19) announcements nationally and locally may affect their season, participants and community. Based on the current situation and local updates in Southern California, we recommend that leagues implement a temporary suspension of all league activities.
While each community is being affected differently by the coronavirus, if your league continues with current activities and events, USA Softball of SoCal strongly encourages you to seek the advice from your community municipalities, public health departments, and local school districts on how to proceed.
USA Softball of SoCal staff is exploring all options on how to proceed with the regular season and post season play. We appreciate your patience and flexibility allowing us the time to work through these details.
We are committed to supporting all our leagues, participants and softball family during this difficult time. We will be communicating with you on a consistent basis, providing updates as they come available. Please look for our official communication via email, on our website and on our social media.
We are advising all our leagues and families to follow the guidelines set by the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), your state’s public health department (click here for a listing of state public health departments), and other county and/or local authorities including precedents set by area school districts and government agencies.
We wanted to give you an update from both USA Softball and the North Shore Executive Board on the COVID-19 situation. We take the safety of our players and community seriously and want to share some changes we are implementing immediately. You can find USA Softball’s response here: USA SOFTBALL COVID-19
Two changes we will be making as of today:
We also recommend you wipe down any shared equipment frequently and keep you daughter out of softball if she isn’t feeling well.
This is a unique, constantly changing situation, and we are receiving updated information on a daily (even hourly) basis. We will continue to follow the guidance of our local and state health agencies on future changes to our rec season.
North Shore Executive Board
All spring registered North Shore players 8U and older are encouraged to attend these free pitching clinics at the Carmel Valley Rec Center.
These clinics are for all players whether experienced or just starting out- coaches will provide beginner to advanced level of coaching based on player's needs.
Coaches: Cassidy Coleman & Kailey Hill
Starting Monday, 1/27 and every Monday thereafter through the spring season provided a sufficient number of players continue attending.
Everyone who will be participating in the pitching side of the clinic should bring someone to catch for them (older sibling or parent).
Those participating in the catching side of the clinic should bring their own catcher's gear if they have it. The league will have some additional gear onsite if needed.

As part of its commitment to developing pitchers, North Shore has established a pitching program to advance the skills of interested players through league-subsidized private pitching lessons. This program is for players willing to commit to developing their pitching skills. It is especially recommended for 8U girls who want to give pitching a try this year.
