Registration for the Spring Recreation season begins in October and runs through December. Teams are formed in early January. Practices begin in mid-January, and games begin in February with the season ending in late April.
Divisions 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U start the year with an on-field evaluation in early January. All players go through the evaluation process, which allows the league to rate the players’ skill level. These evaluations allow for teams to be evenly drafted by our coaches. Every player who registers will be placed on a team. Drafting of teams occurs in January and managers will contact their teams shortly thereafter.
6U Division teams are formed with consideration to play-with requests and school of attendance. Players in this age group are just getting to know the game of softball, and by forming teams in this way, we feel it provides players the best experience possible from a young age. Of course, we cannot guarantee all requests are accommodated, and we do our best to ensure each team is constructed for fair competition.
Practices are held at various softball fields within the Carmel Valley area (Carmel Valley Rec Center, Torrey Hills, Ocean Air, Solana Highlands, Pacific Highlands, etc.).
6U Division (2017-2019)
Practices one night per week as determined by the Manager and plays one game each Saturday.
8U Division (2015-2017)
Practices one night per week as determined by the Manager and plays one game each Thursday and one game each Saturday.
10U Division (2013-2015)
Practices one night per week as determined by the Manager and plays one game each Wednesday and one game each Saturday.
12U Division (2011-2013)
Practices one night per week as determined by the Manager and plays one game each Thursday and one game each Saturday.
14U Division (2009-2011)
Practices one night per week as determined by the Manager and plays an interleague schedule of games once each week and once each Saturday.
The 2025 Spring Recreation registration fees and Birth Year Classifications* by division are as follows:
6U: September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2019 - $125
8U: September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2017 - $325
10U: September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2015 - $325
12U: September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2013 - $325
14U: September 1, 2009 through August 31, 2011 - $325
Families with 2 or more players receive a 10% discount for each additional player when registering at the same time.
*IMPORTANT NOTE Effective September 1, 2023, USA Softball changed the birth year classification for each age division. North Shore is affording those players born between September 1 and December 31, who have completed 2 years in their current age division, the choice to remain in the same age division (for a third year), or move up to the next age division if desired. This annual election will be effective for all recreational seasons (Spring, Select/Tide, All-Stars) through August 31, 2025. You will be required to make this declaration when you submit your registration for Spring Recreation.
We will offer the annual North Shore Softball Clinic for Divisions 8U to 12U in January, registration link to follow once the date and details are finalized.

The North Shore Executive Board by majority vote reserves the right to decline a player / parent / family registration. In the event a registration is denied, the registration fee will be refunded.
