FALL BALL

8U TO 14U DIVISIONS

Fall Ball is an opportunity for girls of all skill levels in 8U, 10U and 12U to play softball during the Fall season. Players in all age groups will have the opportunity to request to play with specific friends and/or a particular Team Manager. Teams will be formed with these requests in mind, but can’t always be accommodated. Teams, Managers, and Players must be approved and ratified by the North Shore Fall Ball Coordinator and the NSGSL Executive Board.

The Fall Ball season runs from late August/early September through mid-November. Games are played on Sundays throughout the season, which allows girls that participate in other sports on Saturdays to continue to play softball in the Fall. Games are played against various other leagues in San Diego County. For athletes opting to play in a more competitive experience there will be a requirement of 2 games each Sunday.

Each Manager will determine the type of competition/opponent best suited for the skill level of his/her team. Typically, there is one practice per week at the Manager's discretion.  Practices will begin the last week of August or first week of September.

If you have ever expressed interest in managing a team, Fall Ball is the perfect opportunity to give it a try.

Fall Ball divisions will be determined by the player’s date of birth in accordance with USA Softball rules as follows:

 8U: September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2019

10U: September 1, 2015 through August 31, 2017

12U: September 1, 2013 through August 31, 2015

14U: September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2013

Beginning 2026 Fall Season

Players who have completed at least one full season in their true birth-year division have the option to "play up" into the next higher age division. This opportunity applies exclusively to our Fall Recreational and Spring Recreational seasons.

Please note that for Select (Tides) and All-Star seasons, this flexibility does not apply. Players must return to compete strictly in the age division designated by their birth year on the official USA Softball Age Chart.

Girls are highly recommended to utilize the leagues play-up program rather than playing up if they are unsure of their ability to play in the higher division or are not selected at this time

Requirements and Approvals

  • Player safety and balanced competition remain our top priorities. Therefore, this rule is firm on the following criteria:
Proficiency: Players must clearly demonstrate the physical skill and proficiency required to safely and effectively compete in the higher division.
  • Approval: Play-up requests are not guaranteed. Any request must be formally evaluated and approved by the division coordinator(s) of each division and/or the League Player Agent.

If you have any questions, please contact the Fall Ball coordinator at fallball@nsgsl.com

The North Shore Executive Board by majority vote reserves the right to decline a player / parent / family registration. In the event a registration is denied, the registration fee will be refunded.
